Spring is near, and the closer you are to knowing how to knot a belt the more prepared you will be. So many of the SS15 fashion shows had models walking down the runways in obi belts, which are sashes that tie around the waist to accentuate the figure, or just regular leather belts knotted at the waistline. The same holds true for asymmetric detailing, whether it be a one shoulder top or an asymmetric hem line, lacking symmetry is in…

If your looking to add an asymmetrical skirt into your wardrobe, I suggest this wrap around skirt by BCBG Max Azria. The spandex jersey material is perfect for warmer weather and doesn’t make you feel constricted. I was inspired by a look I saw from the Michael Kors Fall 2015 Ready-To-Wear Collection, which paired a plaid shirt with an asymmetrical black skirt and knotted brown belt. Basically, asymmetric hemlines are going to carry over from spring into fall this year. So go ahead and invest in this BCBG skirt because you will get some wear out of this baby! It just happens to be on sale now for only $52.80, can we say STEAL!

Now, want to learn how to knot a belt? Essentially, you want to buy one or maybe two sizes up from your normal size belt. Generally if you buy a braided belt it will keep the knot in place easier, because the metal tongue can insert through the braid, keeping it tight. To start, put the belt on how you normally would, except at the waistline. Insert the tongue of belt through the braid or place the metal tongue to one side of the belt once you have reached desired cinching point. Do not pull the belt through the extra side loop that keeps the belt tucked back if you don’t have a lot of extra length. Pull the belt down and loop it under (toward your stomach), creating a loop for you to pull the remainder of the belt through, which in turn creates the knot. See the pictures below for a demo and you will be fully knotted! Until next time.

Always be kind,

Erica
