This timeless staple piece, the Breton stripe, was first introduced to the fashion world by Coco Chanel in her nautical collection in 1917. The shirt was made popular by the likes of fashion icons such as Marylin Monroe, Brigette Bardot and Audrey Hepburn. The design continues to symbolize a very Parisian chic style that is ultimately paired with shorts for a perfect summer look.
I chose to switch it up and pair the Breton stripes with black flared pants because the flared pant is making a come back this year. But, this chic top by French Connection can be paired with a variety of bottoms, not to mention colors as well. I love a good minimalist look with chic accessories; that’s why I chose the caged heel instead of a plain pump, as well as a white watch to create a pop. Until next time.
