In theory, women have evolved tremendously over the past 20 years. As we stray away more and more from the traditional ways, women are becoming an equal– doing it all themselves. Nowadays, women juggle everything: work, family, kids, dinner, cleaning, laundry, you name it. Numerous females are now leading multimillion dollar companies at the tip of their hats, landing their dream job and having successful careers. What I’ve learned– is that women can do it all. Granted, this may be part of the reason things just aren’t as traditional as they once were; thinking back to the 1950’s when women were to run the house only, having a career was absurd! Now, a quarter of a century later, we are seeing reality TV shows about stay-at-home daddies. Oh, the irony…
This look was inspired by Mika Brzezinski, co-host on MSNBC’s show Morning Joe. A classy woman who knows her worth. This Equipment striped menswear blouse reminded me of something she would wear. Pairing it with white jeans and tan cognac accessories, creating a summer classic look that combines chic and conservative together. An outfit that even Mika Brzezinski would sport herself.
I recently read in a magazine (one of my fashion magazines, I get too many to remember which one specifically) a story about Mika and how she discovered her Co-Host Joe Scarborough was getting paid 14x her salary. If that doesn’t make you say ‘OMG’, then I don’t know what would. What I loved about this article are her actions she took. She argued her worth.
Now, her salary is on the same pay scale and viewers are still happy. I praise Mika for how she handled the jaw-dropping information, because not once did viewers catch on to any of the discrepancies that were going on behind camera. She recently released a book titled, Knowing Your Value, which I highly recommend to for any woman to read, especially one in the business world. TIP: An excellent read, one worth taking some notes on… Until next time.
Always be kind,
