Turning temperatures has me investing in lots of warm staple pieces, and for some reason I can’t get enough of two things: long cardigan sweaters and vests. Especially, this Gypsy frayed sweater vest. I fell in love with it at first sight, everything from the cut to the colors chosen were ideal for me. You can wear sweater vests such as this with almost anything and it serves two great purposes: warmth and a great added layer. Because as we all know, layers are everything.

Other fall purchases include mock turtlenecks, fedoras, white button up blouses, retro blouses, ponchos and mid-heel ankle booties (which I think are perfect for dress pants in the winter as opposed to the ordinary pump). I haven’t put much focus on outerwear yet, but I do have my eyes out for a long ankle length coat or a cocoon coat.

Now, in my 30’s, I really try to invest in pieces I can wear on an everyday basis. Instead of the 4″ heels, I opt for the 2-2.5″ range. Honestly, this heel height is perfect for me and most doctors recommend a two inch heel too. I find that my feet are more comfortable in this heel height than what they would be in wearing flats.

I’ve kept trendy items to a minimum, I usually incorporate trends in a subtle manner. For instance, I know the fringe craze isn’t going to last forever. So would I buy a pair of $200 boots with fringe on them? Heck no. Maybe in my 20’s I would have, but definitely not now. Let’s just say being wise about certain purchases definitely comes with age.

Ankle booties and over-the-knee boots are definitely whats on trend this fall/winter season. Riding boots are definitely out this year, hold those bad boys back a couple of years and they will be back in style. That’s one thing you can always count on, is that everything comes back around to being in style. So it’s smart to invest wisely in timeless pieces that will never go away. Such as a trench coat, the white button up, blazers, the long vest, chunky sweaters, pencil skirts, a shift dress etc. And by all means, just because riding boots are not what’s on trend, that doesn’t mean that you can’t wear them. Always do what feels best and to your means. Love you guys! Stay happy, positive and let your soul shine bright always 🙂 I will be posting as I can, with what extra time I have~

Always be kind,

Erica
