Let me start first by telling my story of discovering the “Tracie” dress by BCBG Max Azria…
When you stumble upon the perfect dress, you just know. I was at the NYC market with my friends this past February and it was almost heaven getting to see all the new stuff that was coming out for FW16. There were so many designers, it was overwhelming because there was no way you were even able to attempt to see them all. We had many appointments already booked (well, Holli did) and the one I looked forward to the most was BCBG Max Azria.
Of course it was the one appointment that was scheduled for 8am after a night of drinks. The struggle was real in getting there, all the business of NYC doesn’t mix well with a hangover. Trying to flag down occupied cabs– that was me. However, my friend Denise and I managed to make it to the BCBG showing a little late, Holli and Sarah were promptly on time, as usual. And that’s when I made eye contact with this beauty: The Tracie Striped Asymmetrical Dress.
I was blown away and immediately started thinking about the different ways I could wear this dress. The color combinations were fabulous and the asymmetrical hemline was the perfect length to wear for both work and fun. So with this in mind, here are the three ways in which you can transition a dress into Fall:
- This dress kind of reminded me of the retro 70’s, you know, that Mary Tyler Moore style. I immediately pictured a black mock-neck long-sleeved body suit, a fur vest (still deciding the color choice in my head), and black knee-high suede boots with a prominent heel. Possibly even a floppy wide brim fedora hat too (depending on the occasion).
- Layering a fabulous trench or duster coat over top with some knee high boots. Or even a great leather bomber with a skinny scarf wrapped around the neck with the ends laying longer than the length of the bomber in front.
- Wearing a chunky sweater over top the dress. Depending on the style of the dress, you may want your sweater to hit at the waist line or below, do what visually feels looks the best or gives you the most comfort.
Now granted, these pictures below don’t portray my future visions of Fall for this dress, but when the temperatures drop, you can best believe that this fabulous number will still be in my wardrobe through the FW16 season.
Until next time, always be kind.
Erica xx
