The holiday season is the busiest, most stressful, yet most fun time of the year. So don’t let your worries on what to wear to the party bog you down. Your options are unlimited with thinking outside the box of just the average cocktail dress. Now, I’m not saying a pretty cocktail dress isn’t great, but what I mean, is that there are more innovative ways to dress for a holiday party using a combination of rich textures and bold jewelry.

Luxurious fabrics such as velvet, jacquard, silk, lace, leather and fur can all be brought together to create the ultimate holiday party attire. And I don’t know about you, but I love lace and leather together. The mixing of the two fabrics create a glamorous look, just like my look here. These black faux leather Drew pants are a must have, they are the perfect slimming pant and the length hits just a couple of inches above the ankle. They remind me of a modern day 50’s pant that Audrey Hepburn would adore.

I combined a Joie cap sleeve lace top with a Drew Clothing light-weight open front blazer (as another layer), then topped everything off with a faux fur coat from Jack by BB Dakota. I chose a closed-in ankle pump to add an extra detail to the bottom of the outfit. I created a pop of color with the deep ruby red Kendra Scott necklace, which really tied in swell with the bordeaux Foley and Corinna purse.

Needless to say, opting for anything besides a cocktail dress allows more room for you to play around and be creative. People love to look at interesting outfits, hence an eye-catching look needs to be created from thinking outside of the box. Other simple combos would be all black wide leg high waist pants with a sheer lace black top with a black bra worn underneath. This could also be paired with a high waist jaquard woven pencil skirt or even a high waist leather pencil skirt. Playing around with rich fabrics and their texture is key– the difference in textures is everything. Opting for a pant suit with a low cut is very modern and classy, even a jumpsuit with a fancy blazer would be fun. The options are limitless…

So just say no to buying another cocktail dress and look into buying separate pieces that you can wear more often, plus you get more out of your investment. Happy Holidays!

Until next time, always be kind.
