So what is athleisure wear? An athleisure look can be a mix of all sorts of things, but it combines three clothing categories into one. The three categories are sport, lounge and regular everyday wear. When dressing for this look you can approach it in two different ways by creating a dressed up casual lounge wear look or dressing down regular clothes by adding sport and lounge wear. (The #1 TIP when creating this look is to not wear anything too oversized, it just looks messy.)

Here, I am wearing a casual jogger pant by Ecru, which has an elastic waist and hugs around the ankles, and a modern sweatshirt with cut out details by Bailey 44. I paired it with a Mink Pink over-sized bomber coat in a honey color which ties in the INC nude pumps, which are what really add a dressy factor to this look.  The Jenny Bird RiRi choker helps to tie in the different shades of grey and the honey colors of the jacket and pumps. The multi metals of rose, gold and silver create the perfect statement factor. (read more below images)

There are many different ways to pull off an athleisure look, but the most important thing to take away when creating this look, is comfort. There should be an element of lounge or sport fabric involved. However, many of times I have created a sporty look using regular clothes that had either bold colors or a color blocking element with a bold stripe to create the “sport” appearance (see first image below). Other ways to rock the athleisure wear trend is wearing a pencil skirt with sneakers and a sweatshirt; a fit and flare dress with sneakers, a ball cap and a chambray shirt tied around the waist; or a mini pleated skirt with a graphic tee and a bomber jacket and sneakers. See the looks below for a visual on the different ways to style athleisure wear.

Until next time, always be kind.
