We all know that black is every woman’s favorite color, and maybe every man’s too. It’s our go-to favorite for “serious”, “dramatic”, “edgy”, “slender”, “poised” looks. But sometimes pulling together separates in all black can be tricky. The number one rule when creating an all-black look from separates (such as a top, pant or skirt, jacket etc) is to play with textures and details to create a depth perception. An all-black outfit made out of the same material looks flat to the eye, so when you add different fabrics into the mix it breaks apart the black.
For instance, my look that I’m wearing here consists of Frame destroyed denim, a black leather jacket from BCBG Max Azria and last, but definitely not least, an open back 100% polyester top by C/MEO called “On the Run”. But, can we just talk a little bit about this top? I’m obsessed with all the details, from the criss-crossed open back down to the below bum folded tail. Which I might add was an excellent decision on the designer’s part, because balance is important when exposing a lot of one area. I haven’t quite seen a top made like this before, so I knew it was unique, which is usually always a must have for me.
Plus, there is nothing wrong with owning another black top, right? 🙂 Until next time.
Always be kind,
Erica xx
