During my recent visit to New York Fashion Week (NYFW), I had the opportunity of attending the Taoray Wang show. Tao Wang is one of China’s most celebrated and accomplished designers that is making her mark in the Western fashion world. The designer is known for her fine tailoring, chic silhouettes and exceptional textiles. The power of suit is the name of her game.

I was most impressed by her unconventional twists to everyday work attire, adding personality to professionalism and classic staple pieces. Embracing the modern day woman with inserts of elegant lace and softening the masculinity of the “work suit” attire. Her Fall/Winter 2018 (FW18) “Enlightenment Empress” Collection was inspired by Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia. The Collection combines the classic with the modern and embodies the tenacity and confidence of the working woman.

Celebrities and influencers such as the lovely Olivia Palmero, Michelle Song, Thania Peck and Tracy Amon were front and center at the show. The FW18 Collection left me comparing Taoray Wang to be the next Diane von Furstenberg, a designer who exudes feminity in all the right ways- but especially a powerful one.

The Taoray Wang Collection is sold to exclusive clients throughout Asia, Europe and the USA. The brand currently has showrooms in Shanghai and London and hopes to open a storefront in Soho in the near future, which I’m hoping to happen sooner than later. I can honestly say I fell in love with Taoray Wang. Until next time.

Always be kind,

Erica xx
