You know, it’s really hard not to dive right into spring attire, especially when I get emails on the daily from every store known to man on “New Arrivals”. But reality hits, and as much as I wish warmer temps would stay, I know a winter reality check is right around the corner. Therefore, I combined a spring jumpsuit that I wanted to wear (like yesterday) with winter-like layers, and it turned out to be so much fun…
Quirky fashion is always the best. It’s the “I don’t give a F**K attitude that I love so much about it. Some people live for it or just flat out hate it. Me personally, I dress for the occasion, my mood and creativity for “my” style. I adored this Tracy Reese jumper with all of its bold colors. What really stood out to me the most were the pops of neon yellow and green. A perfect combination for black accents.
When it comes to playing with patterns there are simple rules to follow: (But don’t be scared to break them, especially if you feel confident in your choices.)
- There should only be one dominant pattern.
- The patterns should share a common color.
- Stripes pair well with patterns (it’s interesting), just make sure they share a common color.
- Having a solid complementary color tossed in with two patterns makes for a great combination.
- And always remember, it is the little details that add layers of interest and depth to an outfit.
I chose a black and white (with a small aqua) striped Splendid sweater, topped off with a Tart Collections faux fur vest. One of my favorite details about this jumper is that the pants are very wide leg- it almost passes for a dress. I wore black OTK INC boots to keep my legs warm, which the flow of the material made it easy to wear. I love a bold look that makes a statement, in a classy way.
