If you follow my blog then you are familiar with the brand Taoray Wang, namesake brand of Wang Tao. She dazzled and impressed me in February during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) AW18 and I instantly fell in love with the way she mixes power suiting and dressing with delicate femininity and bold monochromatic colors. For those that are new to my blog or may not have seen my previous post, Taoray Wang is a label based on Tao’s rich diverse background which spans three continents.
Founded in 2002, Taoray is designed for the professional woman who wants to be stylish, modern, elegant and sexy. The brand serves a global and confident woman who is not afraid to show her femininity in edgy design while she plays her role as “boss” for whatever job she may possess. Tao weaves classic men’s fabrics and designs into silhouettes of grace and armor for women who are kicking ass and taking names.
The latest collection for SS19 called “Bloom” embodied everything that is wonderful about Taoray Wang; specifically how she mixes sophistication with minimalism. The collection was a dichotomy of East and West, masculine and feminine, and the soft yet captivating designs were woven together with harmonious, strong lines. The combination was beautifully executed.
A personal statement from Wang Tao that resonated closely to me is that “Customers are not defined by race or nationality. They have an international background, they embrace diversity and are open-minded to try different things. They are well-educated and well-travelled. They are multi-cultural.”
We are living during a time in history where everything is transparent and everyone is connected through the internet, embracing diversity and being open-minded to the way the world is changing is key. Everyone should travel as much as possible to have a better understanding of their own self-awareness, their fortunes in life and to just see as much of the world as they can. I also believe the more you travel the more your own personal style evolves, which is a win-win in my books.
I have much respect for Wang Tao because her clothes emulate feminine expression in the workplace with an exclamation. I cannot wait to see what she creates next.
Until next time, always be kind.
